DTE Organic Oyster Shells is an all-natural, high-quality source of Calcium.  Oyster Shells are ground into small, medium and coarse particles to ensure an immediate and sustained release of the valuable nutrient.

Calcium is an essential plant nutrient, without it, the plants development diminishes. The Oyster Shell Calcium supports strong root development, improves nutrient uptake and boosts plant immunity; promotes optimum tilth by improving the texture, aeration and water penetration of soils.

Suggested application rates:

Vegetable Gardens and Flower Beds

¤ New: apply 3 - 6 lbs per 100 sq ft, thoroughly mix into the top 3" of soil in spring or fall.

¤ Transplants: add 1 - 2 tsp per hole, mix into soil and water well.

Row Crops and Acreage

¤ Apply 500 - 2,000 lbs per acre initially; follow with annual maintenance applications depending on soil analysis and crop requirements.

Containers

¤ New: add 1 - 2 Tbsp per gallon of soil, mixing thoroughly (or add 0.5 - 1 lb per cubic yard).

¤ Established: lightly mix 1 - 2 Tbsp per gallon into the soil surface every other month during the grow season.

Trees and Shrubs

¤ New: prepare transplant hole by mixing 1 - 2 cups into the back fill soil; use the amended soil to fill in around the new tree and water well.

¤  Existing: spread 1 lb per 1" of trunk diameter around the base outwards to the drip line, mix into soil surface and water well.

Lawns

Repeat annually with rates being determined by soil testing.

¤ Small: spread 1/4 - 1/2 cup per 10 sq ft (depending on soil analysis), water well. May be applied in either spring or fall. 

¤ Large: spread 10 - 50 lbs per 1,000 sq ft (depending on soil analysis), water well. May be applied in either spring or fall.
